Welcome to the 2020-2021 School Year!
Welcome to our Classroom!!!
My name is Amy McCoy. I am entering my 24th year of teaching exceptional education learners. I have previously taught Resource, Expanded Resource, Functional Skills, and Preschool. I am excited to be back in the Functional Skills classroom and working with your child! I received my Bachelor's Degree from the University of Tennessee in the area of Special Education.
I have four step-children. Three boys ages 21, 25, and 27, and one girl age of 22. I also have a 4 year old daughter at home that keeps me on my toes! I have one grandson that is 2.5 years old, a granddaughter that is 15 months old, and have recently added a new granddaughter that is 5 months old.
Some of my favorite things include spending time at the beach or in the mountains. We love to travel and I am always looking for interesting places to visit. My youngest keeps me busy with her gymnastics, preschool activities, and just general family activities! Starbucks and Chick-fil-a are our favorite places to visit on those busy days! My little one enjoys cooking and making new recipes to try with me. I have recently entered the world of making t-shirts with Cricut when time allows!
There will be 2 assistants that work in the room with me. They will help facilitate the learning of students by working with students in a variety of settings. We do so many exciting things in class. In which some of those would be art projects, morning meeting, work sessions, and the kids' favorite....Recess!!! We work on pre-vocational skills, self-help skills, social skills, and academics. We also attend Music, Art, PE, and Library as a group.
