Reading To Your Child

Children love to have stories read to them.  Not only is it enjoyable for both the reader and the listener, but studies have proven that reading aloud to your children, even after they can read on their own, provides so many benefits.
Try to create time everyday to read to or with your child.  Try the "I'll read a page, then you read a page method" especially for older children.   Creating a regular schedule of reading together provides the following benefits.
  •  Children experience the joy of hearing a story that  they love!
  •  Children hear fluent and expressive reading modeled daily.
  •  Reading together increases your child's vocabulary development.
  •  Children who are read to daily or read with someone daily have an increased chance for long term reading success!
